I met Nick Benson in June 2002 when I went to NAS Lemoore to deliver prints that had been commissioned by VF-41. Nick was 'assigned' to my son Tor for a two day period and kept him safe whilst I photographed the unit's new F/A-18Fs. Nick was a warm, hospitable young man and made a big impression on my son. We were both deeply saddened to learn that Nick was killed in October of that year as a result of a mid-air collision between two of VFA-41's F/A-18F Superhornets; all four aviators in the jets lost their lives.
